Aglona Basilica

Located in the eastern part of Latvia, about 50 km northeast of Daugavpils, Aglona Basilica is most important Roman Catholic church in the country and Latvia’s main pilgrimage center. The most important celebration is the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, when thousands of pilgrims gather in Aglona. The present church was built in the Baroque style in 1780.
